President-elect Donald Trump has selected Gov. Kristi Noem to serve as the Sec. of the Department of Homeland Security.


The race for Senate majority leader will be decided Wednesday. South Dakota’s John Thune faces John Cornyn of Texas and Rick Scott of Florida. Republican senators will vote by secret ballot for the person they want to lead them.


 The Beresford High School gymnasium was full Monday as the community gathered for the dedication of the S.D. 46 bridge to 1st Lt. Josef L. Thorne. Thorne was a Beresford and SDSU alum who was killed in Vietnam in 1965 at the age of 24.
