INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police are investigating after a person was shot and killed on the far east side of Indianapolis Thursday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 7:34 p.m. to the 11500 block of Brook Crossing Lane after receiving reports that a person was shot in the area. IMPD said officers arrived and found a person suffering from a gunshot wound in the middle of the road.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, according to IMPD. Detectives did not confirm the victim’s exact age, stating the victim could be an “older juvenile or younger adult.” No other information about the victim was provided.
As of this article’s publication, IMPD has not provided any information about a possible suspect or the circumstances that led up to Thursday’s deadly shooting.
“It’s such an unfortunate event because Halloween is supposed to be a time where you’re out with your family and having fun,” said IMPD Capt. Rob Rider. “It’s a great time for the kids and to have a violent tragic event happen in their neighborhood really is very distributing.”
IMPD said detectives are working to review footage collected from ring doorbell videos in the area as part of their investigation. Police are also looking to speak with witnesses who may be able to provide critical information as they piece together what exactly occurred before the deadly encounter.
Anyone with information or surveillance video is urged to call IMPD at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
This is a developing story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
