SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A number of families got an early jump on collecting candy today, trick or treating at Scheels in Sioux Falls.
If you stopped by Scheels this morning, you may have found yourself shopping alongside Joe Burrow and Josh Allen.
Costumes could be found in every department, with children making their way from station to station, trick or treating.
“The parents who have little kids who maybe aren’t in school they can come during the daytime and they don’t have to keep those kids up late, and the weather’s kind of dreary today, so to come inside and trick or treat it’s just a win-win for everybody,” Social Media Manager Jenna Schlapkohl said.
Social Media Manager Jenna Schlapkohl says Halloween is a popular holiday among Scheels employees.
“One of our culture points is we have fun while winning and what isn’t fun about Halloween?” Schlapkohl said.
There are costumes of all shapes and sizes, from little Buzz Lightyear to big Buzz Lightyear, but the kids are here for one reason.
“Oh, the candy, I can already smell it and taste it,” 4-year-old Gabriel Yost said.
As 4-year-old Gabriel Yost searches for sugar, 2-year-old Adalyn is all about the outfit.
“I think her favorite part is just getting to dress up, being cute, and people calling her pretty, yeah (laugh),” Abby Repp said.
Abby Repp is trick-or-treating with her family, including Princess Adalyn. They don’t plan to stay out late and saw this as an opportunity to make memories.
“We’re just trying to get as much stuff in as possible and make their childhood pretty fun for them,” Repp said.
And it’s a tradition Scheels plans to continue.
“It’s really successful and we love having everybody here, the staff gets to dress up, so yes we will do this year after year,” Schlapkohl said.
Scheels plans to hand out candy and toys today until they run out of treats.
