The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Thursday in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. as officials are expecting wind gusts up to 50 mph.
The advisory is for portions of north central and northwest Illinois where west winds are expected between 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, officials said.
Officials warned the gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects including Halloween decorations, and tree limbs. Power outages may happen as a result.
While breezy conditions are expected Thursday, there also is a chance of showers throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid 60s before dropping to the low 50s, officials said.
Current morning conditions at O’Hare International Airport is light rain at 63 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport conditions is overcast at 64 degrees.
