INDIANAPOLIS — It’s Halloween Eve, and there’s hardly a home that’s as terrifying as this residence on the south side of Indianapolis. It is filled with skeletons, clowns, and every creepy crawly creature that you can think of.
The idea for the chilling Haunted House all came from a 13-year-old student.
“It’s just so fun to do. Seeing people’s reactions and seeing everybody come together,” said Elijah Goar. “The reactions of people are just so funny.”
The Southport Middle School 8th-grade student said he started setting up decorations on August 1.
“He’s got a creative mind and a mechanical mind for all of this,” said Elijah’s dad, Stu Goar. “Parents just have to be open-minded. Keeping a kid home is a part of keeping a kid out of trouble.”
Elijah’s fascination with Halloween began when he was only 6 years old. His parents gave him a 12-inch Frankenstein that could sing, and they’ve been collecting ever since.
The plan for Elijah is to one day own a haunted house of his own.
Guests can visit the walk-through outdoor experience at 5617 Shelby St in Indianapolis for free.
Hoosiers of all ages can stop by on Halloween from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Nov. 1 and 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. weather permitting.
