A former USD women’s basketball player has died. According to a post on the team’s Facebook page, 30-year-old Bridget (Arens) Schumacher died at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton on October 25th.


A mother and son are headed to federal prison for a deadly beating in western South Dakota. In May of 2023, 48-year-old Theodora Belt and 23-year-old Bailey Belt were involved in a fight at a home in the town of Bridger.


While it has seemed like warmer temperatures would not go away, we’re finally getting a glimpse of what is more typical for this time of year: Chillier temperatures and snow in the Black Hills. This has been the exception to the rule, as October has been warm and dry for everyone.
