Facing an uphill challenge in his race against Jerry Sheridan, longtime Republican turned Democrat Tyler Kamp is understandably looking for Republican support to help close the gap. But for many Democrats, especially female Democrats, that doesn’t explain or excuse Kamp trumpeting the endorsement of Mike Crawford, the self-described MAGA Republican whose two runs for Sheriff were largely torpedoed by his documented history of violence, restraining orders, and the documented forced sodomy of his then wife.
“The man raped his wife, more than once according to letters she wrote, has a history of abusive behavior, and Tyler Kamp is promoting that he has his endorsement?” remarked one shocked politico.
Crawford’s legal problems have been very well documented on this site and elsewhere, and have generated a significant amount of social media coverage as well, so it is nearly certain that Kamp knew about the allegations.

“Kamp expects Democratic women to support him and vote for him just because he switched to being a Democrat to run for Sheriff, but his own history of sexual harassment combined with celebrating the endorsement of a man who forcibly sodomized his own wife is appalling.” observed one Arizona Democrat who will no longer be voting for Kamp. “I can’t vote for him, I won’t vote for him, and he’s not going to be getting votes from anyone I’m telling this story to.”
In promoting Crawford’s endorsement, Kamp said “I am honored to have Mike’s support in this crucial race.” and “I couldn’t be prouder to have him in our corner.”
Kamp and Sheridan face off in the general election for Maricopa County Sheriff on November 5th.
