Early on Wednesday morning, it was reported that the Tennessee Titans are trading wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs. The current compensation for the Titans is reported as a fourth-round draft pick in 2025, but the deal is still being finalized as of this writing.

The Titans first brought in Hopkins in 2023, hoping he would provide the spark needed. Things didn’t exactly go as planned, though, and the Titans ended up firing Mike Vrabel and replacing him with Brian Callahan. Between Callahan and Ran Carthon, wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd were added to the roster for Will Levis. Except that Levis can’t manage over 100 yards passing in a game, which means his receivers aren’t doing anything either.

It seems like Callahan and Carthon are throwing in the towel pretty early in 2024, shifting their focus to the future, which obviously doesn’t include Hopkins. Last season, Hopkins recorded 75 receptions for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns. This season, though, he’s nowhere near on pace for those numbers, roping in 15 catches for 173 yards and one touchdown through six games. The Chiefs are desperate for a receiver after losing JuJu Smith-Schuster, Rashee Rice, and Hollywood Brown to injuries, so the trade makes sense for them.

Here’s how X reacted to Hopkins’ trade to Kansas City.
