Another day, another 100% cloud-free day at the Indianapolis International Airport. Total for the year is at ten days, which is the most in at least a decade. We’ll potentially add a couple more days to this streak Sunday and Monday. Great weather for the Colts vs. Dolphins game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, too with highs approaching the mid-70s around here.

Thanks to high pressure dominating much of the lower 48, conditions will remain quiet for the remainder of the weekend and most of next week. Highs on Monday may approach 80°, a good 12-15° above average for this time of the year.

The only exception will be the middle of the week when a cold front comes through, this will drop our temperatures only for a couple of days and increase our cloud coverage just a bit. However, the cooler stretch will not last long as we expect to rebound temperatures by next weekend. This looks to be the story to end October and open November, too.

Now, what about the rain? Much like how most of September 2024 acted, October continues being an extremely dry month. Indianapolis only has 0.07″ of rain to date. If the month ended today, it would be the driest ever. However, to date, it’s the 5th driest and the driest in 19 years. At this rate with very little meaningful rain forecast through the next 7-10 days, this month has the chance of being one of the driest Octobers on record.
