SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — KELOLAND News will have a live broadcast of Sen. Tim Johnson’s funeral Friday morning from Our Savior’s Lutheran in Sioux Falls.

Johnson was 77 when he died on Oct. 8. The longtime lawmaker served in the House and Senate in Washington, D.C. from 1987 to 2015. Johnson served in the state House and Senate from 1979-1987.

Watch the live broadcast on KELO-TV and on KELOLAND.com. The broadcast starts with a 10 a.m. special report, followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m. The entire broadcast is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 noon. You’ll be able to watch the special report and funeral in the video player above.

Scheduled speakers include Johnson’s sons Brooks and Brendan. Remarks from former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle and former U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin are also expected. Ira Taken Alive, a former staff member and member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, is scheduled to share a Lakota prayer.

The service will be conducted by Rev. Lori Hope of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Johnson’s home church in Sioux Falls. She will be assisted by Rev. Sawyer Vanden Heuvel, also of St. Mark’s and Rev. Tim Lemme of Our Savior’s.
