INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police are investigating after a female was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Red Roof Inn on the city’s west side Wednesday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 9:03 p.m. to 2631 S. Lynhurst Drive, the listed address for Red Roof Inn, after receiving reports that a shooting had occurred in the area.

IMPD said officers arrived on the scene and found a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, according to IMPD.

As of this article’s publication, IMPD could not confirm if the female was an adult.

While the investigation into the circumstances of Wednesday’s fatal shooting remains in the early stages, IMPD said preliminary information appeared to indicate the shooting likely stemmed from a disturbance in the parking lot of the business.

No suspects or persons of interest have been identified or detained by police at this time.

IMPD said detectives on the scene were waiting for the Red Roof Inn manager to arrive so they could try and access video surveillance footage documenting the moments leading up to the deadly incident.

Officers also responded to the 700 block of Hiatt Street on the city’s near west side around 8:51 p.m. where they found another person who had been shot. They were last reported to be awake and breathing.
