SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s been the theme of the fall so far this year, dry skies.
As we’re halfway through October, I tallied the rain amounts from September 1st to October 15th and compared them to past years. Here’s what I found.

This first list shows the areas with their driest on record for precipitation from September 1st through October 15th.

Mobridge has the least at one-hundredth of an inch, followed by Sioux Falls at .04″.

Others in their top ten driest for that period include Mitchell, Huron, Yankton, and Watertown. Aberdeen is at their tenth driest with just under a half inch.

Of course, with the dry conditions come high fire danger. That’s something we’ll continue to battle leading into this weekend.

Speaking of this weekend, some may get lucky enough for a light shower or two Friday into early Saturday morning, with another chance for rain on Monday.
