GRANT COUNTY, Ind. — A crash on I-69 took the life of an Ohio man on Thursday, the Indiana State Police confirmed Friday afternoon.
According to ISP, officers from their department, as well as the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Van Buren Police Department, responded to an injury-involved crash around 2 p.m. on Thursday, near the 270-mile-marker.
ISP said the crash involved a 2020 VOLVO Semi traveling northbound on I-69 and a 2021 Ford Explorer. Per police, the semi rear-ended the Explorer “…for an undetermined reason”, resulting in the death of the Explorer’s driver: 81-year-old Noah L. Yoder of Hicksville, Ohio.
ISP added that life-saving measures provided on Yoder proved unsuccessful, and the Grant County Coroner’s Office pronounced him deceased. The semi’s driver did not sustain any injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing. However, ISP noted they do not suspect alcohol or narcotics to play a role in this crash.
