The revolving door continues to spin, the Chiefs are the best team in the NFL again. The one word I can use to describe Patrick Mahomes is ‘inevitable’, as are the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes didn’t light up the scoreboard by any means in the Chiefs 26-13 win over the Saints last night. But what Mahomes does to facilitate the ball to open receivers makes defensive coordinators toss and turn at night. Mahomes is playing without Isaiah Pacheco & Rashee Rice, but is still able to operate the offense as if they’re running on air. Last night was a tight end show for the Chiefs as two of the top four receiving leaders in the game lined up on the line. Much to Red Kingdom’s delight, we saw Travis Kelce integrated back in as the main focus of the offense for the first time this year in the absence of their other offensive talent. For example, Kareem Hunt who was the Chiefs starting running back last night was signed off the practice squad less than three weeks ago. The leading receiver last night was Juju Smith-Schuster, a guy who has bounced around from team to team because he couldn’t find the right fit. Newsflash, everyone fits with Patrick Mahomes.

The score truly didn’t reflect the performance put on by the Chiefs as they out-po0ssesed New Orleans by nearly 20 minutes, and out-gained the Saints by 240 yards. The point is, Patrick Mahomes makes everyone else around him a top level NFL player, and mix that with the Hall of Fame coaching on their sideline and that recipe comes out as Super Bowls.

The Chiefs are in search of the NFL’s first ever three-peat of Super Bowls, and after five weeks of the 20204 season, they look well on their way to accomplishing that feat. The Chiefs and Vikings are the only two undefeated teams left (5-0) in the NFL, and if they were to play today I think it would honestly lean 51/49 Chiefs, only due to the quarterback comparison. There is no better team right now in the AFC than Kansas City. The Bills have come back down to earth in the last two weeks, the Bengals are struggling to even find a win right now, and the Steelers are starting to realize they might have a quarterback issue of their own. The AFC is wide open again for Kansas City and it is theirs to lose. Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but the Chiefs are the favorite to win the Super Bowl.
