SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — For all the art, wine, and shopping lovers, there’s an event Friday night that is calling your name.

While downtown may be calm now, Friday night it will be hustling and bustling with people for the Art and Wine Walk.

“The fall art and wine walk is really a way for downtown Sioux Falls to, one, support the local retailers and the food and beverage industry in downtown, but also to support local artists,” Vice President, DTSF, Brandon Hanson said.

For artist Hector Curriel, he is ready to be back at the event.

“I am very excited to be part of this, because I think art is a way to connect with community and people are going to get a good taste of how diverse the art they can see tomorrow,” artist, Hector Curriel said.

New for the October Art and Wine Walk is they are closing off Phillips Avenue between 9 and 10 so that they can feature art in the street.

“We didn’t want to detract from retail or from food and beverage, and so we don’t have any sales happening or food and beverage. In the street it is just live art, whether that’s pottery, musicians, painters or an aerial art,” Hanson said.

The event is a great opportunity for artists because it gives them a new avenue to show off their talents.

“Promotion, I believe, is which way to get people to know who we are, what we do and what we can offer to them as a is and in regard to our ability,” Curriel said.

It is also a great opportunity for people to support local artists, businesses, and of course, wine.

“That’s really what makes downtown special, and that is we really care about the culture of downtown and bringing communities together,” Hanson said.
