For the first time in its five years of existence, HIROKI is reshaping its menu in an epic way — with an a la carte menu and a new sushi omakase experience.

Such changes have arrived after Executive Chef Hiroki Fujiyama opened Hiroki-San, a sister concept to Philly’s original hotspot in Detroit, which spotlighted a wider range of his beloved style of Japanese cooking. Hiroki-San was such a success for Fujiyama and the Method Co. hospitality group that they have now decided to upgrade the HIROKI menu in Fishtown (1355 N. Front Street) to give diners more vibrant and affordable options.

“Since 2019, we have delighted our guests at HIROKI with our traditional Japanese omakase,” says Fujiyama on making such notable menu changes. “We’re now excited to offer a broader dining experience with our first ever sushi omakase experience as well as an a la carte menu that will showcase my interpretation of Japanese classics. We’d like our guests to be able to enjoy HIROKI on a more regular basis, whether celebrating a special occasion or stopping by for some authentic Japanese cuisine.”

HIROKI’s revamped menu still includes their classic 20-course Chef Hiroki Omakase ($185 per diner), but also features a new sushi omakase that includes a chef selection of sushi, miso soup, and dessert ($115 per diner).

The new and affordable a la carte menu ($8 to $30) will feature a lively take on Japanese classics, with a maki + nigiri selection complimenting cold plates such as hiyashi chukka (homemade cold noodles with sweet soy vinegar sauce) and snapper carpaccio. There are also hot dishes such as katsudon (crispy pork cutlet, caramelized onions, soft eggs) and kakuni (sweet simmered pork with rice porridge). Diners can expect more than just HIROKI’s love of rice and fish, but now tasty noodle dishes and other Japanese culinary favorites.

HIROKI’s new menu is now available as they still remain open Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5-9 pm, with their Fridays and Saturdays still operating from 5-10 pm. Please note that diners will be able to enjoy either omakases or the a la carte menu from anywhere in the restaurant — but availability for walk-in slots still remain limited per evening (including walk-in omakase).
