| MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers announced today his appointment of Ryan Kieler to serve as Grant County District Attorney. The appointment, effective today, fills a vacancy created by former District Attorney Ian Mickelson’s resignation. Kieler will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2025.
“Ryan Kieler is a lifelong Wisconsinite who has deep roots in the Grant County community,” said Gov. Evers. “His experience will serve him well as the next Grant County District Attorney.” Since 2016, Kieler has been in private law practice in Platteville, where he focused on criminal defense. He previously served as president of the Grant County Bar Association and also served as a lecturer of agricultural and environmental law at the University of Wisconsin (UW)-Platteville. Originally from his family’s dairy farm outside Platteville, Kieler is a graduate of UW-La Crosse and the University of Wisconsin Law School and currently lives in Platteville. “I am honored to accept the governor’s appointment to the position of Grant County District Attorney,” said Kieler. “Being a native of Grant County and having spent my entire legal career practicing in Southwest Wisconsin, primarily in Grant County, I am deeply invested in this area. I am excited to begin my new role and serve the people of this county.” |
