SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The city of Sioux Falls will have a new chief building official when Butch Warrington retires and leaves on Oct. 11, according to a city news release.

Neil King will replace Warrington who has been the chief building official for seven years. King has been the city’s building inspection manager since 2018. King will assume Warrington’s job on Oct. 14.

The chief building official leads the building services division of the city’s planning and development services department. The chief building official is responsible for the monthly and annual building permit data. The building services division oversees plan reviews, permit issuance and inspections. It has 34 employees.

Warrington was chief building official when the city reached a record $1.9 billion in permit valuations in 2022.
