RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind. — An Ohio man has been charged after he reportedly had methamphetamine and cannabinoids in his blood when he caused an accident in Randolph County in December 2022.
According to court documents filed earlier this month in Randolph County, Daniel Harlow, an Ansonia, Ohio man, has been charged with:
- Three counts of causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle with a schedule I or II substance, each a Level 5 felony
- One count of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony
- Misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana
On Dec. 28, 2022, deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a reported accident at the intersection of U.S. 36 and U.S. 27. When they arrived, witnesses told deputies that they saw a Honda Pilot go through the intersection at a red light, hitting a Nissan Rouge in the process.
There were two individuals in each vehicle. The documents said that all four of the individuals, including Harlow – the driver of the Honda Pilot – were taken to local hospitals.
When deputies were completing a vehicle inventory on the Honda Pilot, the documents claimed that they found both marijuana as well as a silver container that contained a small amount of methamphetamine. Deputies also reportedly found multiple smoking tubes in the car.
In an interview with Harlow at the hospital, the documents said that he reportedly acknowledged that the marijuana was his. Harlow also reportedly said that he had been smoking methamphetamine but did not carry it with him.
Officials then conducted a blood draw of Harlow. The documents said that his blood tested positive for both cannabinoids and methamphetamine.
The two individuals who were in the Nissan Rouge spent multiple weeks in the hospital, according to the documents.
