SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — 29-year-old Joshua Allen was shot to death in broad daylight at a city park 4 weeks ago. Three others were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. On August 25th, gunshots rang out at Dunham Park on the west side of Sioux Falls at 4:20 in the afternoon. Police called it a large gathering of people.

“My son was a good kid he was a good man he was a good person you know so its hard for us to deal with that my son wasn’t a street kid, so I’m not ok with what happened to my son,” said his mother Paris McAbee.

McAbee says her son had a strong sense of humor, he was an aspiring musician and devoted father.

“Because see, this is my baby, as a teenager my baby loved football, my baby loved his football. This is when my baby first started to want to do music, my baby loved his music. 49:47 49:54 My baby loved his kids, they deserve justice for their father,” said McAbee.

Annastasia Maxwell is the mother of his 7 kids. She says she’s been in contact with detectives, but hasn’t heard much about the investigation. She’s still trying to come to terms with Joshua’s death.

“It’s hard to wrap your head around because there was no reason for it, she said”

“It’s ok mommy, it’s ok,” one of her daughters said trying to comfort her.

“It’s okay. And, I mean it happened in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday in a park. If you heard anything, if you know anything reach out to detectives, Crime Stoppers, we want, I’m trying to get justice the right way and so that’s what we are trying to do,” said Maxwell.

Joshua’s younger brother Javon says the frustration over a lack of arrests is growing.

“Where’s the justice supposed to come in at? You’ll not doing anything about it why is it, is it just because the color of our skin? What’s going on? I want to know,” said Javon.

Today we asked police Chief Jon Thum for an update on the Dunham park shooting and Joshua Allen’s death.

“We have information. It is also reasonable that we have to hold onto some of that for investigative purposes, and I think sometimes the public’s desire for details doesn’t override that fact that we have a job to do and to compromise that by providing information that is inappropriate could jeopardize the entire investigation,” said Chief Thum.

In the end, the family and police want the same thing.

“I just want the individuals who are responsible for this to go to jail,” said McAbee.

Allen was also know as Jayy Munneyy on he music scene.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Allen’s 7 children.
