SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Many families in KELOLAND are looking for answers about missing loved ones.
One of those people is 28-year-old Matthew Marshall.
The Hot Springs Police Chief says Matthew’s last confirmed sighting was in the town on the night of July 24th.
He was reported missing by a family member on August 4th.
Marisa Hodgson is in Sioux Falls.
But she’s thinking about someone who could be anywhere.
“It feels like it’s just out of my reach, and I don’t know, I feel stuck,” Hodgson said.
Matthew Marshall and Marissa have been in a relationship, although she says it’s been on and off again recently.
Marisa says Matthew went to Hot Springs to be around family, including his grandmother who last heard from Matthew on July 23rd.
Volk: Was he known to disappear? Would he ever go through times where he wouldn’t contact you or is this unusual behavior for him?
Waters: Yes, unusual because he knows my phone number by heart.
“He is a grandma’s boy. He does not leave his grandma, so that fact that he hasn’t reached out to his grandma Wanda is really concerning,” Hodgson said.
Now, Matthew’s loved ones are doing whatever they can to find him.
“His family out there has gone and done most of the footwork where they’ve looked at all the places he’d typically hang out that the liked out there. Everyone’s just kind of coming up empty handed,” Hodgson said.
Marisa has printed posters, posted on social media, and now she’s trying to raise money for a private investigator.
“Truthfully, I cry everyday. I don’t know. I’m very worried, but I keep reminding myself that it’s not about me. It’s about Matthew, so I do what I gotta do,” Hodgson said.
KELOLAND News also talked with Matthew’s mom on the phone Thursday.
She called this a “mother’s worst nightmare.”
She’s asking people to keep sharing posts and report anything they know.
