EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (KELO) — Rock Valley, Iowa, native Andrew Van Ginkel tallied an interception and returned it 10 yards for a touchdown as part of the Minnesota Vikings’ 28-6 win over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Van Ginkel picked off Daniel Jones’ pass in the third quarter and brought it to the house for Minnesota’s final TD of its season-opening victory.
It was his third career interception and first with the Vikings. The touchdown marked his fourth as a pro.
Sam Darnold tossed a pair of touchdown passes for Minnesota. He compiled 208 yards on 19-for-24 passing. Justin Jefferson hauled in one of the scores and finished with 59 yards on four catches.
Aaron Jones rushed for a game-high 94 yards and one TD in his first game as a Viking.
The Vikes host the 49ers next Sunday in their home opener.
