SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — Firefighters battling the First Thunder Wildfire south of Rapid City made “a good handle” on the blaze Tuesday night, according to a social media update from the Pennington County Sheriff’s office.
The post says the fire is burning154 acres, a decrease from Tuesday, where the fire spread to an estimated 170 acres.
On Wednesday, weather conditions are improving and officials hope to clean the damage and further contain the fire, they said in the post.
An evacuation warning is still in affect for the area.
