When fans look at a team’s roster and salary cap situation, it is often quite easy to see which team has a quarterback on a rookie contract. Usually, these teams can afford some high-priced free agents to back-fill their roster with veterans. With the cost of a viable NFL quarterback skyrocketing after their rookie contract, this makes total sense.

When looking at the Tennessee Titans, it’s easy to tell from their salary cap numbers that that is the case. The team is scheduled to pay only $81.7 million of the offense in 2024. It is a number that looks quite small, considering they have a lot of veteran skill position players on that side of the ball.

Incredibly, this is not the lowest salary cap number focused on that side of the ball; they are fifth. The Titans, with an assist from QB Will Levis and other recent draft choices, have been able to add talent to their offense while keeping their salary cap on the offensive side of the ball at a minimum.

The savings allowed the Titans to add players such as Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley,  L’Jarius Sneed, and Chidobe Awuzie to the roster. What does this mean for the success of 2024? Who knows for sure, but the Titans’ will be able to put a well-rounded veteran roster on the field, giving them a shot in every game. Stay tuned
