One of the most interesting facets to look at once rosters are set is the average age of the roster. Are teams older? Are they younger? While the average age of a team is not a fail-safe predictor of the type of success a team will have, it does give a good insight into the franchise’s mentality and what it desires.
This season, the Tennessee Titans are in the middle of the pack with an average age of 26.21, according to the Philly Voice. This number should not come as a surprise, as the team has added to its veteran core in free agency.
According to the same report, the Green Bay Packers are again the youngest team in the NFL, reclaiming the top spot they held in 2023.
At the end of the day, this means very little to the game played on the field. With players entering the league at different ages (especially after the NCAA COVID-season eligibility rules), players are entering the league at an older age than they were a decade ago. It is how well the different ages mesh together that will determine success more than age.
