INDIANAPOLIS — According to a recent report from HomeToGo, Indianapolis has ranked fourth in the top ten trending destinations for travel this fall.
The company, which specializes in vacation rentals, puts out a Fall Travel Forecast index each year. In other words, it catalogues which cities and towns are expected to draw large crowds each respective autumn.
For 2024’s fall months, the rankings are as follows for Big City Breaks (vacations in larger cities).

- Pittsburgh
- Louisville, Ky.
- Indianapolis, tied with Salt Lake City
- Ventura, Calif.
- Madison, Wis.
- Charlottesville, Va.
- Raleigh, N.C.
- Boston
The Circle City achieved a 78% increase in search volume from the previous year, HomeToGo wrote.
The website called Indy “…an ideal urban retreat in fall, with its downtown parks and the Central Canal reflecting the season’s colors.” It specifically highlighted the museums, sports culture and outdoor activities that Indianapolis holds dear.
As for small cities and towns, HomeToGo also reported the top ten trending spots for those wishing to stay in less-populated areas.
