SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Preparations for LifeLight are in full swing as staff works to get ready for the free Christian music festival this weekend in Sioux Falls.

LifeLight 2024 is just a few days away, which has many people excited for this year’s event.

“I’ve attended the festivals my whole life and so I love this weekend,” Z8 Coordinator, Maddy Schneider said.

Around 30,000 people packed into the 8th & Railroad location in 2023. With more favorable weather conditions this year, event organizers and the city of Sioux Falls knew they needed to change the venue.

“This year we’ve transitioned to Nelson Park here on Cliff and 10th Street,” LifeLight CEO, Josh Brewer said.

The festival attracts some of the most popular Christian artists, including KB, Micah Tyler, and the Newsboys. There will also be other activities taking place at the festival.

“There’s going to be all kinds of action sports and BMX guys going on over there. And right next to that will be a massive children’s area with inflatables and also lots of food vendors out here,” Brewer said.

For anyone worried about parking, there will also be an easier option than finding a spot near downtown.

“There’ll be the shuttle bus running back and forth all day long from Lincoln High School,” Brewer said.

While the festival will be taking place on Sunday, they are kicking off the weekend with a Gen Z event the night before at the Military Alliance Center.

“We’re going to have the stunt dudes come in, they’re professional BMX rider. So we’re going to have a fun hangout time in the parking lot. And then the night of we’re going to have live music with artists and speakers,” Schneider said.

As LifeLight offers free events to help kick off Labor Day weekend.

The festival will be on Sunday, August 1st from noon to 10 p.m..
