SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A teenage boy has died from a gunshot that police are calling accidental, but not self-inflicted.

On Thursday, Sioux Falls Police Department Lt. Aaron Nyberg said there were two arrests made from a shooting at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of 7th Street. Nyberg said he couldn’t say what charges a juvenile boy was facing, but said Savannah Lee Randle, 33, of Sioux Falls, was arrested and faces charges of child abuse, accessary to manslaughter and false reporting.

Detectives learned witnesses were told to leave before police showed up for what was being called a self-inflicted accidental shooting. Police determined the gunshot wasn’t self-inflicted but are still calling it “accidental.”

“The handgun was recovered from the scene,” Nyberg said. “No indication there’s an ongoing threat to the public.”

The 9MM handgun was a stolen gun from a different case, Nyberg said.

He also said there were “several” teenagers involved in the case.

This is a developing story.
