SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Hunting season is in sight and a Sioux Falls sporting goods store is using a special shopping experience to benefit a local nonprofit.

Scheels in Sioux Falls will host its first-ever Ducks & Bucks after-hours sales event in September.

“It’ll be hunting clothing, it’ll be fishing, it’ll be hunting gear, it’ll be firearms, a little bit of everything for those guys that are getting ready for hunting season,” Scheels Assistant Store Leader Josiah Christoffer said.

Tickets are $10, but you’ll receive a $10 Scheels gift card. Ticket proceeds will be donated to a local hunting nonprofit, either Wheelchair Adventures or Warriors Never Give Up.

“They’re both awesome, and I would say go online and vote for one that maybe pulls at your heartstrings the most but then I would research the other one and if you can get involved in some way I would do that because they’re both really cool,” Christoffer said.

“When you see the videos of those guys taking their first big deer or antelope or whatever it is, just the joy that brings and it’s awesome we get to be a part of that,” Hunting Clothing Manager Pat Short said.

Pat Short is the hunting clothing manager and says Ducks & Bucks is a chance to plan your next big adventure.

“I just think it would be a great opportunity for guys that are getting ready to plan a trip with a buddy that they can come in and get geared up for wherever their adventure is going to lead them this year,” Short said.

If Ducks & Bucks is a sellout, the winning nonprofit will receive $4,000. The winner will be announced Thursday, meaning there’s still time to vote.

“Go find us on Facebook and you can vote online there and you can learn more about the event too,” Christoffer said.

Giving back by helping others get outdoors.

Ducks & Bucks is set for Sunday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m. The first 300 tickets to the event are sold out, but another 100 will be available beginning on Thursday.
