As Democrats in the State Legislature, we have fought year after year to expand BadgerCare and ensure that no Wisconsinite goes without the healthcare they need.
In the face of staunch opposition from the Republican-led Legislature, our colleague, State Rep. Katrina Shankland, has been at the front of this fight. She has co-sponsored legislation every year for the past 12 years to expand BadgerCare to an additional 90,000 Wisconsinites. She has also co-sponsored legislation to offer a public option for BadgerCare, raise reimbursement rates for providers, and expand postpartum BadgerCare benefits to women.
We’re disappointed by candidate Rebecca Cooke’s attempts to mislead the public about Katrina’s record—and our collective record—on healthcare.
We urge Ms. Cooke to stop these false attacks on Katrina’s record immediately and join fellow Democrats in keeping our sights set on defeating Derrick Van Orden.
