SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Police Department continues to combat speeding on city streets.

On Friday morning, officers recorded a driver going 106 mph in a 50 mph zone. The SFPD shared the speed in a social media post.

SFPD handed out two tickets to the driver: speeding 26 mph over the speed limit and drag racing. The speeding ticket costed $232.50 and the drag racing ticket costed $282.50 for a total of $515.

“$515 dollars worth of reasons to slow down,” the post from police said.

Police have made enforcing speed limits a focus in 2024, holding more speeding saturations, where a group of officers patrols a specific area looking for drivers who are breaking the law.
