SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —With the Women’s gymnastics team USA winning gold and the men’s winning bronze there has been a lot of talk about gymnastics.
It’s creating a buzz at the local gymnastics gyms here in Sioux Falls.
With both USA Gymnastics teams winning medals in the Olympics, you’ll find a lot of excitement at local gyms.
“It was really incredible. The men’s energy, they were cheering the whole time, helping each other. I think that’s a great lesson for our girls because gymnastics, we always say it’s an individual sport. Yes, but we have the teams award. If they are not helping each other, it’s so hard to make it. So this partnership that they show of the sportsmanship that they showed was amazing,” Gymnastics coach Isabella De Sordi said
Team USA winning means a lot to the community, but it also inspires others
“There is no moment that you can be lazy or tired. You need to do your best every day. So seeing them achieving this level of excellence, that’s what I want to achieve. So it really helps me to keep pushing every day,” Gymnastics coach Isabella De Sordi said
“I think it’s an inspiration and it’s great to be a part of the whole community and I think inspires everyone in the gym as well to work harder and better,” Gymnastics coach Nicolas Wieczorek said.
“I think it’s just amazing that they’ve come so far and it pushes me that I can go as far as well,” Gymnast Katie Humpal said
And for many gymnasts, the inspiration from Team USA is seen beyond the competition.
“The gymnasts that I’ve looked up to all my life are doing really well. They’re getting like first place, and I think it’s really cool to see,” Gymnast Katie Humpal said
“I really believe that one thing that is very good, all the athletes in the US team, they are really good people. They look to be really good people. They are good examples for our kids. So that’s good because the girls are going to follow them. They’re going to be seeing all their posts on Instagram and everything. So that’s very important that they are really good examples for them,” Gymnastics coach Isabella De Sordi said
