SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A single-family home with 52 rooms, full Irish pub and 178 feet of lakefrontage set a record for the highest price home sold in Iowa, according to Christie’s International Real Estate. The sale price was $9.5 million.

The home is on West Lake Okoboji and was built by former Pure Fishing chief executive officer Tom Bedell, according to Christie’s. Bedell’s father Berkley founded Pure Fishing in Spirit Lake but as the Berkley Fly Company and eventually the Berkley Company.

The home is 25,000 square feet with eight bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. The home is called Peace Harbor. Media reported in June of 2021 that the house’s listed sale price was $9.9 million.

The sale closed on July 29.

Christie’s cited the difficulty of finding lakefront property in the U.S. including in the Okoboji area. According to the real estate company, new construction two-bedroom lakefront condos in the area start at $1.2 million, while waterfront single-family homes range from $800,000 to $6 million.
