After a preliminary investigation, deputies determined a single-occupant motorcycle was traveling east on East State Road 445 toward I-69 when, for an unknown reason, it left the roadway. The bike came to rest on the southwest portion of East State Road 445 near a southbound I-69 exit.

GCSD determined the driver of the motorcycle was 25-year-old Brenten Trueblood of Bedford. Trueblood was transported from the scene of the crash to IU Health’s Bloomington hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day confirmed Trueblood was one of his deputies. Day provided FOX59 and CBS4 with the following statement:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the untimely death of Deputy Brenten Trueblood as he succumbed to injuries sustained in an off-duty motorcycle crash.  His work ethic and hilarious personality were an example for others.  Words cannot adequately express the pain and sorrow of his family, kids, friends, and fellow Sheriff’s Office employees. Please keep them all in your prayers. Brenten will be missed but never forgotten.
