INDIANAPOLIS — A 91-year-old serial flasher is accused of exposing himself to three teenage girls after following them through a Muncie Target.

Edward C. Uhles of Indianapolis was charged in Delaware County Circuit Court this week with one count of display of matter harmful to minors, a Level 6 felony, and one count of public indecency, a Level 6 felony.

Uhles appears to have a long history of flashing girls in public, according to an extensive criminal rap sheet that spans multiple counties. Uhles has been hit with public indecency, public exposure and public nudity charges in Hendricks, Hamilton, Monroe, Bartholomew and Morgan counties in addition to his Delaware County charges.

Uhles’ penchant for flashing extends back until at least 2010, according to court records. Indiana Department of Correction records reveal Uhles has even served multiple stints in prison over public indecency convictions.

Uhles’ latest charges stem from a Nov. 9, 2023, incident in which Uhles is accused of following three teenage victims through a Target department store in Muncie.

The teenage girls said Uhles exposed his erect sexual organ to them before leaving the store and driving away. The girls filmed Uhles on their phones, court documents detail.

After the incident was reported, a Target employee looked into the accusation and cross-checked it with a similar report made at a Target store in Carmel. In that incident, a man named Edward Uhles was arrested.

Court documents obtained from Hamilton County reveal that Uhles flashed girls at more than just the Carmel Target, however.

On July 21, 2023, Uhles approached two adult women at a Hobby Lobby in Carmel with his erect privates sticking out of his pants. The women took videos of the man to show to police.

The Carmel Target incident occurred on July 29, 2023, with Uhles approaching a 14-year-old girl in the bra section and exposing himself through his unzipped pants.

After these incidents, Westfield police ended up tracking Uhles to another Target store — this one in Westfield. Police waited until Uhles went into the store and ended up catching him in the act.

Police said Uhles was spotted hanging around a clothing section where several juvenile girls were browsing items. Police watching over security footage spotted Uhles unzipping his pants which prompted officers to move in.

But when officers nabbed Uhles, they uncovered a strange twist.

The sex organ sticking out of Uhles pants wasn’t real. It was a fake penis made of foam or synthetic flesh, police documented.

Police claimed that the then 90-year-old man admitted to having a sex addiction and that he quit going to courses to address it. Uhles also reportedly told officers that he used the fake penis “for the rush” and that it “makes him feel young.”

Uhles told police he tried to pick “prettier girls” who were ages 18 to 22. He claimed he targeted Hobby Lobby and Targets on the north side claiming the girls were prettier than south side girls and that they wore “tighter shorts that are smaller.”

Uhles claimed he was unaware that many of his victims were 14 and younger.

Despite his arrest last summer, Uhles continued to pursue his “rush” by exposing himself in Muncie. He also has a more recent charge stemming from a Bartholomew County public exposure.

Uhles is currently being held in Delaware County Jail.
