SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Eat Well Sioux Falls Mobile Market, which brings food directly to people and neighborhoods who might face obstacles in their access to affordable and healthy groceries, has a new stop on its schedule.
“I was raised by my grandma and a lot of people who loved me, so if I do anything in my life, that’s what I want to do is give back that love and that admiration for people,” market manager Amber Jones-Esquibel said.
The market will now be stopping at Lowell Elementary in central Sioux Falls on Fridays from 1 to 6 p.m. It already has stops Monday through Thursday at various locations.
“I’m excited for Lowell Elementary just because it’s been something that’s been in the works for us,” Jones-Esquibel said.
“The feedback in that area was, ‘Get it to Lowell, get it to our elementary school,’ and so that’s what we’re doing,” Sioux Falls Thrive President Michelle Erpenbach said.
The market is a project of the nonprofit Sioux Falls Thrive. Erpenbach says they’re looking to spread the word about this mission that now has a new stop.
“The other thing we’re looking for is volunteers to go door-to-door,” Erpenbach said. “One of the really cool promotional things we’ve done is while the market sits in a location, we canvass the neighborhood.”
