SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The piglet that was caught on the Big Sioux River Thursday morning has been taken in by a local pig sanctuary.
Happy Pig Haven, a sanctuary near Baltic, has taken in Eric Jr., the piglet captured near Falls Park along the Big Sioux River last week.
Animal Control Supervisor Patty Beckman said in an email to KELOLAND News that the sanctuary doesn’t normally take in random pigs, but made an exception for Eric Jr.
Beckman said the pig started to show signs of illness over the weekend, but the staff at Happy Pig Haven have been helping get him back to health.
