SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Starting Friday night, people in Sioux Falls will get to enjoy several genres of music at the Four Winds Music and Arts Festival.
The Four Winds Art and Music Festival is about bringing people together and bringing harmony to the community.
“It’s a gathering of our entire music and arts community. We’ve been doing this for nine years, and this is looking like the biggest year yet. It’s 77 bands of all different genres of music and 15 artists from right here in South Dakota,” Founder of Four Winds Art and Music Festival Corey Church said.
“We support the arts and we support music giving people the space to, you know, showcase their talent. It’s also a really great way to kind of instill that sense of community for people,” event manager and director of marketing and communications Becky Squyer said.
The Four Winds Music and Art Festival is put on to bring people together no matter what genre they enjoy.
“We have rock bands, country bands, folk bands, deejays, rappers. There’s a variety of visual arts throughout the whole festival,”
“That was kind of a mixture of every genre of music where the rappers get to meet the rock guys and the country guys get to meet the MDGs, and we all get to like to celebrate what makes South Dakota special,”
And with 77 performers, there’s a good chance you’ll recognize someone who takes the stage.
“I love local music. My husband is a musician. He’s played for wins before. All of our staff. Most of our staff here. Most of our staff here is in a local band,”
The event got underway at 5 p.m. on Friday and will last until 11:30 p.m. Then it will pick back up on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and go until 11:30 p.m.
