It goes without saying that Stonehouse will make the 53-man roster if he’s fully recovered from his injuries, as he’s one of the best punters in the league.

Stonehouse suffered a torn ACL, MCL and a broken bone in his leg on December 3, 2023. By all accounts, his recovery is going well, but his status for Week 1 remains up in the air.

The typical recovery time for a torn ACL is about nine months, but with the added injuries he suffered, it could very well take longer than that. The season starts on Sept. 8, which will be just over nine months after Stonehouse got hurt.

Stonehouse didn’t shoot down being ready for Week 1, but that might be expecting too much considering what he’s coming back from, even for a youngster who is in great shape like Stonehouse always is.

For now, we’re keeping it conservative and have him starting the year on the PUP list, which will force him to miss the first four games. He will not count against the 53-man roster in that scenario.
