Probably more than any Rockies player, Charlie Blackmon lives the baseball cliche: one game at a time.
But even Blackmon is taking a few moments to stop and appreciate the things he’s accomplished since making his big-league debut 11 years ago.
Blackmon, 35, hit the 200th home run of his career on Tuesday night in Colorado’s 5-3 victory over the Giants at Oracle Park. And he’s climbing the franchise’s all-time hitting charts at a fast pace.
“Even playing just one day in the big leagues is so special,” Blackmon said before Wednesday night’s game against the Giants. “I can’t believe I’m coming up on 10 years of service time, and to do it with one team makes it that much better.”
Blackmon entered Wednesday’s game with 1,318 games played, 1,498 career hits, 200 home runs, 53 triples, and 271 doubles.
Here’s where Blackmon ranks in the annals of Rockies hitters entering Wednesday’s game:
• He is two hits away from 1,500. He would become one of just 16 active players to surpass that milestone and just the second player to have at least 1,500 hits while wearing a Rockies uniform. Todd Helton had 2,519 hits career hits.
* Blackmon’s 660 RBIs rank seventh in franchise history. Vinny Castilla is sixth with 745. Helton ranks first with 1,406, followed by Larry Walker (848), Dante Bichette (826), Nolan Arenado (760) and Carlos Gonzalez (749).
* Blackmon is six doubles shy of tying Gonzalez (277) for third all-time. Walker ranks second (297) and Helton first (592).
* Blackmon’s 524 career extra-base hits are tied with Arenado for the fourth-most in franchise history. Helton ranks first (998), followed by Walker (599) and Gonzalez (543).
* Blackmon hit his 53rd career triple on May 29 at Washington, tying Dexter Fowler for the most in franchise history.
* Blackmon’s 1,318 games played rank second to Helton’s 2,247.
