SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It has been a warm half of the year in KELOLAND. We aren’t even to the middle of July and have temperatures in the 90s nearing 100.

Let’s take a look. Rapid City has two record monitoring locations, the airport and the National Weather Service office in downtown. Both locations hit the highest temperature of the year in June. The forecast office hit the high on the 15th at 98 degrees. The airport hit the high on the 24th at 98.

It was similar across KELOLAND through the middle of June, even after all the rain.

Pierre had the “coolest” high temperature of the year at 93 degrees on the 12th. Aberdeen hit the high temperature on the same day but slightly warmer at 97. Finally, Sioux Falls hit the high temp of 94 on the 24th.

If we thought these temperatures were hot, it’s going to get worse. We are expecting triple digits this weekend with high humidity.
