ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. — A suspect has been detained and a minor is dead after an incident in Elkhart County.
According to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, there was an “active situation” on Pendleton Drive outside of Elkhart this weekend. WSBT 22, a CBS affiliate based in South Bend, reported that SWAT personnel began working an incident involving an adult and juveniles on Pendleton Drive Saturday night.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office did not indicate exactly when the disturbance concluded. Police have released few specifics about what actually unfolded during the incident.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit and Indiana State Police are still investigating the disturbance because it resulted in the death of a minor.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office indicated that further inquiries about the event will be handled by the county prosecutor’s office.
