Is there anything better than having a beer outside on a gorgeous day? What about having a beer next to a waterfall on a gorgeous day? Well, at Cobblehaus at the Falls in Mercer, PA, you get just that with a gorgeous view of Springfield Falls!

So if you are looking for a different kind of brewery experience on the next nice day in southwest Pennsylvania, put this gem on your radar and make the trek about an hour north of the city to check them out!

Beer and Waterfall Views at Springfield Falls

When Cobblehaus announced they were expanding to add a location north of Pittsburgh in addition to their base in Coraopolis, we were interested. When they announced the outdoor area was home to a waterfall, we knew we had to go right away.

In a way, Cobblehaus at the Falls offers three experiences all in one stop. First, there is the beer- Cobblehaus is known for making some delicious Old World style brews. Then, there is the ambiance- the inside of the taproom is one part rustic lodge and one part art-based with many interesting display pieces. Finally, there is the waterfall- Springfield Falls clocks in at about 20 feet tall and just as wide.

Although the interior ambiance is beautiful enough to warrant a visit in its own right, the waterfall is really the star attraction here. So get a pint of a delicious Belgian, Vienna lager, or other specialty brew and head outside to enjoy the waterfall from not one but two viewing points!

When you head outside to check out the waterfall, you have a decision to make- do you want to view the waterfall from above or see it from ground level at the base?

For those that choose the upper view, you can head out a few feet from the building and find some chairs with a gorgeous and serene vista overlooking the waterfall. For those that choose the lower, take a short walk down the gravel path to the base of the falls for a larger selection of picnic-style seating.

This lends itself to enjoying at least two rounds at Cobblehaus, one to enjoy at the bottom and one to enjoy at the top. We saw many guests doing just that, and we have to admit, we joined in on the trend as well. (Taking the first beer down below and enjoying our second at the top, and in that order due to the fact that it is a decent walk to the bottom.)

But, in all honesty, the only wrong way to enjoy Cobblehaus at the Falls is to simply not go outside at all. While the interior is still quite beautiful, the waterfall and the nature is what truly makes this place special. Although this one is indeed a fair drive from Pittsburgh proper, for those who are up in the area hiking at McConnells Mill State Park or Moraine State Park (amongst others), ending the day with a beer at Cobblehaus at the Falls is a great combination all around!

Cobblehaus at the Falls is located at 1015 Leesburg Station Rd in Mercer, PA. Their original location is in Coraopolis, PA.
