CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. — A Clinton County juvenile was left in critical condition following an apparent hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning, police said.

According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded around 2:36 a.m. to an unresponsive 17-year-old male on the westbound side of US 421 (Clay Ave), north of State Road 26.

Preliminary evidence from the scene suggests that the 17-year-old was walking on the street when a southbound vehicle struck him. The vehicle then left the scene, CCSO said.

Court documents indicate that the teenager’s mother, alongside deputies and first responders, performed life-saving measures. He was then transported in critical condition to an area hospital.

This is an ongoing investigation. A suspect for this incident has not yet been named.
