CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — A man has died after a trucking incident in Crawfordsville, according to police.

The Crawfordsville Police Department was dispatched on Wednesday to the 1000 block of Sloan St. on a report of a severe accident in the parking lot of Lakeside Book Company, North Plant.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found a man at the back of a flatbed semi-trailer. He was treated and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. He was identified as Adam Raad of Aslip, Ill., s a truck driver for Fast Line Trucking.

With further investigation, detectives found that another driver from Fast Line Trucking was also scheduled for a pick-up at Lakeside Book Company at the same time. This driver stated that while maneuvering a large container towards the back of the trailer using his tandem axles, Raad had climbed onto the back to open the container. The container collided with Raad, resulting in fatal injuries.

An autopsy has been scheduled for the victim with the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
