INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to an early Thursday morning apartment fire that injured a civilian and a firefighter.

Just before 1:45 a.m., emergency crews responded to the 3100 block of El Lago North Drive at the Stone Lake Apartments on multiple calls of a working apartment fire.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames showing through the roof of multiple apartments. It took crews 40 minutes to put out the fire.

IFD says eight units were involved in the fire and four units sustained smoke and water damage. 

The American Red Cross is working with those displaced.

Information has not been released on how many people were affected. The cause remains under investigation.
