COLUMBUS, Ind. — A McCordsville man was arrested after attempting to steal a tractor on Friday night in Columbus.
Derrick Jordan, 20, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, public indecency, and resisting law enforcement.
Officers were dispatched on Friday at 6:52 p.m. on a report of a stolen tractor near the intersection of W Lowell Rd. and N 250 W.
According to a press release from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, Jordan stole a tractor and drove it several hundred yards before being caught by the tractor owner.. The suspect then fled the area on foot, but was found later urinating in a roadway.
During a search of Jordan, a vehicle key belonging to a Lexus and multiple vehicle registration cards to the car were found in his pocket. Officers proceeded to check BMV records, and it was noted that the vehicle was reported stolen in McCordsville.
Officers found the stolen Lexus at a nearby interstate rest stop.
This case remains under investigation.
