INDIANAPOLIS — SPARK on the Circle is officially back for another big year. Tens of thousands of people had a chance to enjoy this popular downtown feature last year and now the excitement is building for year two.
For those who may not know, SPARK on the Circle can be thought of as a pop-up park-like environment on the northwest side of Monument Circle. It’s open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. until dusk and is free to the public.
The area includes giant Jenga, checkers, chess, ping pong, foosball and more right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. Throughout the summer, there will also be live music, art and other special programming.
In 2023, the inaugural year for the SPARK on the Circle, the space had more than 78,000 people visit. The hope is to bring even more people out for the fun this year.
”I just love seeing the vibrancy it really brings to Monument Circle,” said Max Wing, the PR and Communications Manager with Downtown Indy Inc. “We are really trying to engage a seven-day a week audience, not just weekends, so whether that is the workforce coming out for lunch, sitting at one of the tables, building human connections, it’s really built for the community and invites people to experience Monument Circle in an entirely new way.”
This weekend only, residents and visitors alike can also check out another celebratory feature in Monument Circle.
Saturday is the start of Pride Month and as Hoosiers celebrate the return of SPARK on the Circle this weekend, Indy Gay Market will present the Big Gay Market on the south side of Monument Circle for the next two days. It will feature 50 unique vendors, live music and more.
The SPARK on the Circle will continue through the beginning of November and new this year, a modified version will continue through the holidays.
