INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that critically injured a juvenile early Friday morning.
According to IMPD, just before 1 a.m. officers received a call of a possible person shot at a residence in the 900 block of Hamilton Avenue.
When officers arrived, they located a juvenile female with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical but stable condition.
Although police believe the shooting occurred inside the residence, they do not have any eyewitness accounts.
“Currently we have no witnesses and according to the ones we’ve talked to, there were numerous people here, but nobody saw anything,” said Capt. Don Weilhammer with IMPD.
“Detectives have not had a chance to interview the juvenile victim yet, so hopefully we’ll be able to get some good information from the juvenile, but at this point in time that’s all we have,” Weilhammer said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact IMPD at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
