MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Pilipinas Women’s stellar run in the 2024 Fiba 3×3 Asia Cup came to a screeching halt on Sunday at Singapore Sports Hub.

After a dominant start in the tournament, Gilas found its match in a red-hot Chinese Taipei side and fell, 19-9, in the quarterfinals.

It was Gilas’ first loss after rolling in its first five games.

Mikka Cacho, who has been instrumental in the women’s squad’s run, couldn’t do her usual magic for Gilas playing with an injured right knee.

Still, Cacho and Camille Clarin paced the Philippines in scoring with three points apiece.

Jhazmin Joson, who dropped 11 points for Gilas in a win over Mongolia, was hounded on defense and was limited to just a point.

Yu Chieh Chen showed why she’s the anchor of Chinese Taipei with a dominant outing, tallying eight points and six rebounds.

Gilas Women also lost in the quarterfinals of last year’s Asia Cup.

Chinese Taipei lost to New Zealand, 16-15, in the semifinals.
